Resources for Youth

As young people approaching adulthood you are confronted with the many ways that US militarism affects your lives: aggressive military recruiters, draft registration, that first paycheck (and the war taxes that are taken from it). Lots of information is available to help you deal with these issues. Below are a few links to get you started:

For students who are facing military recruiters and war tax collectors, there’s a Student Outreach flyer with some basic information from the National War Tax Resistance Coordinating Committee.

Thinking about whether or not to register for the draft? Here’s some basic information on Selective Service Registration.

For extensive Draft Resistance information, try the National Resistance Committee.

The Central Committee for Conscientious Objection has a nice short overview of how to compile a CO claim.

For detailed information on Conscientious Objection including a set of worksheets, check out the Center for Conscience and War.

For information on Students’ Rights to organize on campus, see this great pamphlet from the Committee Opposed to Militarism and the Draft.

The National Network Opposing the Militarization of Youth can help you find a counter recruitment organization near you.
